Hotpoint Electric Heating Company is a fascinating and encouraging story. Did you know Hotpoint was the first to produce a successful commercial product? Earl. H Richardson called his iron Hotpoint by Pacific Electric Heating Company. It was later made into a famous laundry iron. You may be surprised to find out that George A. Hughes and The Hughes Company introduced the electric stove in 1910. In 1912, the Pacific Electric Heating Company name was changed to Hotpoint Electric Heating Company.
The company was already a household name by this time. In 1914, the Hotpoint trademark was registered by the US license office. In 1918, Hughes Electric Heating Company joined with Edison Electric Appliance Company.

San Diego Hotpoint’s design service allows customers to plan their kitchen. Raymond C. Sandin was hired in Hotpoint in 1935 to work in the design department. In 1944, the magazine “Kitchen of the Future’ was advertised. Raymond C. Sandin’s design team grew from 13 to 14 in 1965. He was still the director of the department up until his passing.
General Domestic Appliances, a division of General Electric Company, acquired Hotpoint in 1989. Merloni purchased almost 50 percent of Marconi plc by 2001. Indesit became a trendy European brand in 2005 after Hotpoint was marketed and sold by Merloni.
